An upcoming artist recently asked me why it’s difficult for their music to play on radio & why radio DJ’s never consider their music no matter how good it may be.
The bitter truth is, Zambian Radio DJ’s are actually the ones killing Zambian music. They should learn to put favoritism aside & give equal opportunities to all Artists. There’s a lot of good music out there that never gets to reach people’s ears because of “Kaja ka selfishness”. Tuchawa bad muma radio stations umu”. You guys need to learn to play music because it’s GOOD,& not because you’ve been paid or expecting some ka payment from your favorite artist.
If you feel their content is not up to standard, advise the youngster on how they can work on their craft & be better. By doing so, you’re building their confidence & giving them assurance that they are on the right path. The struggle is real out here so let’s help each other, after all Radio means nothing if you have no musical content right?
